Lynx's Whalen Purchases Tickets For Local Youth To Attend Game 2 Of Finals
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After Sunday's loss to the Sparks, Lynx forward Maya Moore said she wasn't fazed by the rough start.
She was looking ahead to Tuesday's rematch.
"It's really back for Game Two," Moore said. "That's our mindset for coming in and trying to improve."
The Lynx will get another shot at home at Williams Arena.
To make sure young fans get to experience a playoff game, Lindsay Whalen bought 300 tickets and donated them to youth organizations, including northside high schools, MN Adopt and Athletes Committed to Educating Students (ACES).
Kalid Ali is involved with ACES and a huge fan of Whalen's.
He's one of the lucky ones who got a ticket and will get to see his favorite player in Game 2.
It will be his first WNBA game.
This isn't the first time Whalen has given back to youth. She's done basketball camps with kids throughout her career.
So while the Lynx play for a win on the court, it's their generosity off the court that gives kids like Ali a memory that will last forever.
"Great basketball players, but, more importantly, great people, and the Lynx are champions on both sides," said John Thomas, the Lynx's vice president of community engagement.
The Lynx head to Tuesday night's game 0-1 for the series.
They'll hopefully get off to a better start than Sunday, when they were down 28-2 midway at the start of the game.
Ali says he's confident he'll get to see a win Tuesday.
