Lynx's Monica Wright Embraces Sixth-Man Role
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Lynx's Monica Wright knows her role -- she's the team's sixth man.
It's her job to react when her number is called.
"It has its advantages, and its disadvantages," she said. "But it does help being able to watch from the sideline, and know what you need to do when you do get in there."
The team depends on the third-year player's specialty -- defense.
"I feel like defense is a huge reason why we won the championship last year," she said. "And coach Reeve is a firm believer in defense first."
"Monica Wright is the first player I'm picking to be in the trenches with me on defense," said coach Cheryl Reeve.
Wright's hopeful that she can continue to make strides on the court in the second half of the season.
