Lynx G Maya Moore Earns Weekly WNBA Honor
MINNNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Despite losing two of their past three games, the Minnesota Lynx is still getting nation attention with WNBA weekly awards.
Guard Maya Moore was selected Monday as the WNBA's Western Conference Player of the Week for her efforts from Aug. 5-11. It's her first player of the week award this season and third of her career.
Moore scored 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added 10 rebounds on Aug. 6 as the Lynx beat San Antonio 93-80. She had 24 points two days later to go along with four steals in a loss to the Washington Mystics.
Moore finished off a big week with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 94-86 loss to Chicago. For the week, she led the Western Conference by averaging 23 points per game, 3.3 steals per game and with eight made 3-pointers.
The Lynx are still at the top of the Western Conference with a 17-5 record. They host the Tulsa Shock at 7 p.m. Friday and New York Liberty at 6 p.m. Sunday.
