Lunde Named New Brooklyn Park Mayor
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- Brooklyn Park has a new mayor. Jeffrey Lunde received more than 31 percent of the vote, in a 12-person race.
Lunde is a former city council member.
His nearest challenger, Tony Pistilli, got 17 percent of the vote.
All numbers are unofficial results and voter turnout was approximately 23 percent.
Brooklyn Park held its special election on Saturday, instead of the usual Tuesday, in hopes to rally more voters on the weekend.
Former Mayor Steve Lampi died from cancer last February, just two months after starting his third term.
