LRT Service Back Up In Downtown Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Light rail train service was restored in downtown Minneapolis after being interrupted Thursday morning due to an equipment problem.
Metro Transit reported that a problem with the overhead wires that power trains was to blame for the service suspension. Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons said a 750-volt wire broke at about 10 a.m. near the Metrodome station. No one was injured.
The stations between Target Field and Franklin Avenue were not in service, according to Metro Transit's website, and commuters were directed to use replacement buses along that portion of the route.
The downtown stations opened once again after 2 p.m.
