Lottery Sales Resume Without A Drastic Increase
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Lottery ticket sales are now back to normal after the government shutdown, but so far sales haven't picked up dramatically.
Downtown Minneapolis convenience store Zip-In reports selling only $50 worth of tickets since they resumed sales Thursday morning. A clerk believes consumers are protesting the state government for shutting down in the first place.
One woman missed her bi-weekly gambling, but claims she has considered buying less than her normal amount.
"I was thinking of buying less because I didn't win. Nothing happened and I didn't have tickets," she said.

She was also waiting to cash-in.
"I had about $33 that I was holding on to, going 'Gosh I wish I could get some cash for these,'" she said.
Another downtown convenience store said they lost business during the shutdown.
"People would come in for water or chips and buy a ticket," they said.
The lines are short for now, but store owners are hopeful people will stop in tomorrow to test their luck with this weekend's drawings.
