Local Groups Hold Immigration Rally At The Capitol
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Local groups, supporting new immigration reform plans, came to the state Capitol Wednesday supporting a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
Some of them at the rally said they came to the U.S. as children illegally with their parents.
They say changing federal laws to allow citizenship will allow them to become more productive citizens.
"I am happy that I have not lost hope. Not just to see myself benefit as I graduate from the University of Minnesota, being able to follow and work in my future field as an educator, but to know that my mother can now walk alongside me no longer undocumented and completely unafraid," said Uriel Rosales Tlatenchi, a Dream Act supporter.
There are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. who could be affected by new immigration laws.
