Lightning Likely To Blame For Richfield House Fire
RICHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating a house fire in Richfield Tuesday morning that was likely started by lightning that hit the roof.
Fire crews responded to a report of a house fire early Tuesday morning on the 7100 block of Lyndale Avenue South in Richfield.
When crews arrived, lightning had hit the roof and blown out a window. Damage had been done to a window frame, part of a peak and some siding.
Authorities said there were two people and two dogs inside the home and awake at the time of the fire, and they were all able to get out safely. The extent of the damage to the home is not known at this time.
Xcel Energy reported about 3,000 customers without power in the Twin Cities metro area at 8:30 a.m. The largest reported outage was in the Plymouth area, where about 1,400 were without power.
