Lawyers Make Closing Arguments In Chris Cook Trial
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Lawyers will make their closing arguments Wednesday morning in the trial of Minnesota Vikings CB Chris Cook.
The Minnesota Vikings player is accused of assaulting his girlfriend in an incident from October.
He told jurors on Tuesday he was defending himself during an argument that spiraled out of control over a lap dance.
Cook said he and his girlfriend got into an argument at a downtown strip club, which used to be called Sheiks. Cook bought lap dances for everyone who was with him, including his girlfriend. Cook said she felt his dance lasted too long and became outraged.
He said at that point, she started texting her ex-boyfriend and that he was crushed.
Back at Cook's townhome, he says his girlfriend became violent.
He says she threw a lamp and then hit him in the head with an object when his back was turned.
Cook testified, "I spun around and slapped her, I thought she was going to hit me again."
He said she also ripped out three of his dreadlocks.
"It was some of the worst pain I had ever felt," Cook said.
Cook's girlfriend initially told responders Cook choked her but later changed her story.
Cook admits he slapped and pushed his girlfriend but denies ever choking her.
Jurors are expected to get the case later today.
