Lawmakers Consider Bill For Alcohol At TCF Bank Stadium
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- It would be a big change for Gopher fans at football games.
Legislators are considering a law that would allow the sale of beer at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus. The current proposal allows beer sales in the 37 stadium suites and in a designated area called a "beer garden" open to the public.
The bill's sponsor said the beer garden could be in the plaza beneath the west scoreboard. Sales could be more controlled than if it was sold in the student sections.
Supporters said it could mean nearly $2 million dollars in extra revenue for the University of Minnesota.
If passed in the House, it would then move to the Senate and Gov. Mark Dayton for approval. It would then need final approval from the Board of Regents.
