Klobuchar Staffers Hold Meetings On 2012 Farm Bill
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Staffers for Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be holding a series of regional meetings this week to get public input on the 2012 Farm Bill.
Klobuchar sits on the Senate Agriculture Committee, which hopes to complete work on the Farm Bill within the next few months. One major issue is whether to replace a current subsidy program called direct payments with stronger rink management programs
Klobuchar's staff will be holding nine meetings in southern and western Minnesota from Tuesday through Thursday. The communities include: Chatfield, Austin, Mankato, Worthington, Marshall, Morris, East Grand Forks, Moorhead and Alexandria. They'll hold additional meetings in central and northern Minnesota the next few weeks.
Klobuchar says her goal is to strengthen the rural economy and ensure that Minnesota farmers have the support they need to succeed.
