Klobuchar Lands Top Seat On Senate Subcommittee
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Now in her second term, Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar has landed top committee post.
Klobuchar was announced Thursday as chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. It's a panel within the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Minnesota has had relatively low seniority in the Senate, where longevity is critical. Klobuchar won a second term in November, the first Minnesota senator with multiple terms since Democratic Paul Wellstone won a second six-year stint in 1996.
In the Minnesota delegation, Republican Rep. John Kline is chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee.
