Klobuchar Is Latest Minn. Politician To Make Iowa Detour
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) -- Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar is making her way to Iowa as the keynote speaker at a local Democratic Party gathering.
Friday night's appearance is the type that can signal interest in a national run. Iowa, after all, traditionally hosts the opening caucuses in presidential election years. But Klobuchar has given few indications that she's looking to move up the ladder.
Klobuchar is the featured guest at the North Iowa Wing Ding fundraiser in Clear Lake, which is just across the Iowa-Minnesota border.
Klobuchar won a second term last fall in convincing fashion. This summer, she's been the keynote speaker at an event in Ohio and will headline a Democratic Party dinner in Pennsylvania at the end of September.
