Klobuchar, Franken Back Iran Nuclear Deal
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota's senators say they are backing President Obama's deal to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
The international agreement would lift some sanctions in Iran, in exchange for restricting the country's ability to develop a nuclear weapon.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said earlier this week she believes the deal is the best available option.
Sen. Al Franken said Thursday that it is not a perfect agreement, but it is a strong one.
Opponents, including some Democrats, argue the U.S. should negotiate a different deal.
Congress will take up the issue in September.
