'Kids Feeding Kids' Meets, Thanks Major Donor
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities have been providing meals for students, ages six to 18, since 2007. Kids Feeding Kids is the name of that program, and those kids got to thank a major donor Tuesday.
During Spring Break at St. Paul schools, these kids are without meals the schools provide. Kids Feeding Kids helps fill that void.
The Boys and Girls Clubs serve about 12,000 kids. However, state funding has been reduced. Last December, they had to close for two weeks because of a budget shortfall.
So, private donations are even more important.
Brad Rixmann of Pawn America had lunch with kids at the Boys & Girls Club near the State Capitol. His company helps provide 120,000 meals a year to inner city youth.
Food shelves, like Second Harvest foods, also help the Kids Feeding Kids program.
The Kids Feeding Kids program also provides dinner to these kids when school is in session. And the kids can also learn about nutrition by working in the kitchen.
