Kevin Love Named To 2011-12 All-NBA Second Team
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- After averaging a career-high, and single season franchise-record 26 points per game (fourth best in the NBA), while also recording a league second-best average of 13.3 rebounds per game, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Love was named to the 2011-12 All-NBA Second Team.
Leading the league in double-doubles with 48, Love finished second in minutes (39 per game) and was fourth in free-throws made with 379. Love, in his fourth year in the league, is the third player in NBA history to average more than 25 points and 10 rebounds, while also making more than 50 three-pointers.
Love received 365 points from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. That was the third best score among forwards. Only LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who were the forwards on the first team, received more points.
Love received the highest score among true power forwards in the league. Voters are not asked to distinguish between small forwards and power forwards on their ballots.
LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul made the All-NBA First Team, while Kevin Love (16 first-team votes) was joined by Blake Griffin, Andrew Bynum, Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook on the second team.
