Juror Faints During Opening Arguments Of Fairbanks Trial
CROOKSTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- A juror fainted in the courtroom Wednesday in the murder trial of Thomas Fairbanks. Fairbanks is accused of shooting Mahnomen County Deputy Chris Dewey in 2009.
Dewey died 18 months after being shot in the head and stomach after he and 10 other officers were called to Fairbanks' home in Mahnomen.
The 34-year-old Fairbanks is charged with first-degree murder of a peace officer.
During the prosecutions opening arguments, the juror fainted when the prosecutor was describing Dewey's extensive injuries.
A second man, Daniel Vernier, pleaded guilty to lesser charges for his involvement in the crime.
Vernier is expected to testify against Fairbanks.
