Judge: Hecker's Girlfriend Cooperating With Court
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- U.S. Marshals are serving a search warrant on Denny Hecker's home in Medina, Minn.
The former businessman is in bankruptcy and is currently in jail after admitting to fraud. The attorney for the bankruptcy trustee wants to find out if there are additional items that can be sold off at an auction.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend Christi Rowan had to meet with the judge Friday and tell him where she spent thousands of dollars.
The hearing stemmed from accusations that Hecker cashed insurance policy checks and that he and Rowan spent the money instead of turning it over to authorities. Rowan spent an hour on the stand in federal court, reading off her bank records to the attorney's and Judge Robert Kressel.
The list included hundreds and hundreds of dollars on clothes for her kids at stores like J. Crew and Urban Outfitters, $873 in salon bills, $654 bill at Sunglass Hut, airplane tickets, dinners, etc.
Rowan told the judge some of the money was hers, and some of it came from the child support she receives for her two children.
Rowan was questioned about money orders with her signature. She says she got the money from Hecker, but at the time didn't know where the money came from. Rowan also said she couldn't remember where she made the money orders payable to.
The attorney for the bankruptcy trustee told the judge there are "holes in her accounting" and he wanted Rowan held in contempt.
Judge Kressel ruled in Rowan's favor and said Rowan provided detailed information about her bank records.
Rowan agreed that she would find out the information she was unable to provide and turn it over to the court.
