Judge Expected To Rule On MOA Lawsuit Against BLM
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — We should know more soon on whether or not a Hennepin County judge will grant the Mall of America's request to keep protesters off mall property on Wednesday.
The mall is seeing a temporary restraining order after Black Lives Matter announced it planned to demonstrate over the recent killing of Jamar Clark by Minneapolis police. Susan Gaertner, an attorney for the mall, told WCCO's Chad Hartman she's optimistic the judge will rule in their favor.
Last year, the group's large demonstration at the height of the holiday shopping season disrupted mall operations for hours and resulted in several arrests.
Protesters with Black Lives Matter camped out at the Fourth Precinct after Clark's death. He was shot by police after a struggle with officers, and an investigation showed Clark attempted to reach for an officer's gun. Some say Clark was handcuffed when he was shot.
