Judge Ends Adrian Peterson's Probation 15 Months Early
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A judge in Texas has ended Adrian Peterson's probation 15 months early.
According the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office in Conroe, Texas, Peterson's probation was terminated by Judge Kelly Case.
The Vikings running back pleaded no contest in November 2014 to a charge of reckless assault for hitting his young son with a switch.
At the time, a judge sentenced him to two years of probation, a fine and community service.
On Wednesday, Judge Case and Peterson's probation officer said they believe Peterson has fulfilled the terms of his probation.
The District Attorney's Office said in a recent statement that after the probation was terminated the court learned the requirement for Peterson to complete public service announcements about domestic violence and child abuse were also terminated.
"The court's decision to early terminate Mr. Peterson's probation without requiring he strictly comply with the agreed upon terms gives the appearance that a star struck judge waived some of the probation requirements because he was enamored with an elite athlete," District Attorney Brett Ligon said in a recent statement.
With the termination, Peterson served roughly nine months of his two year probation.
