Jordana's Blog: Yoga Trumps Mom-Of-The-Year Award
I thought I was home free. I just dropped the kids at school, I was heading to the grocery store and then to yoga (my one hour of total me time all week). Then I get a call from the school.
It was my youngest, Ruby. She forgot her school issued iPad and... they were taking MCA's on them. Ugh. I was already 20 minutes away and if I ran home and grabbed it and brought it to her, there would be no grocery shopping and no yoga. Ugh.
The school secretary said Ruby could do a makeup another day and after a few minutes of deliberation I said, "Please tell Ruby I can't bring it and she'll do the makeup." Then the guilt set in.
Ruby's very responsible, this is the first time she's forgotten her iPad all year. Remember this is the kid who asked for a can-opener for Hanukkah so she can eat olives! The only reason I didn't bring it is because I had other things to do that day. Mom-guilt is awful.
I know it's not good to always bail the kids out when they forget something, but this was less of a lesson for Ruby and more of an "I'm busy!" moment.
What would you do? Bail on yoga and bail your kid out or disappoint the child and not ruin your day's plans? #theparentstruggleisreal
By the way, Ruby was a little mad at me for not bringing the iPad but she got over it in about 5 seconds.
