Jackson Co. Gives Up On Local Trial In Murder Case
JACKSON, Minn. (AP) -- It looks as if the murder trial for a man accused of stabbing his brother to death will have to be moved outside of Jackson County.
Officials had hoped to place a local jury. But after more than five days of questioning about 130 potential jurors, officials gave up Tuesday.
Jackson County Attorney Bob O'Connor tells the Daily Globe it looks like a change of venue will take place. O'Connor says only eight jurors had been approved for the jury by Tuesday.
O'Connor believes the courts will keep the trial in the Fifth Judicial District, which covers 15 counties. No new date or location has been set.
Tyron Collins is accused of fatally stabbing his brother during an altercation at Colonial Manor nursing home in Lakefield last June.
