'Item Of Interest' Found In Case Of Missing St. Paul Woman
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (WCCO) - A new clue has led investigators to a lake that may help them find a Kira Trevino, a St. Paul woman who was last seen Feb. 21. Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, faces charges in her death.
According to St. Paul Police, a search crew at Keller Lake Park in Maplewood found a possible clue. It's less than five miles away from the Trevino's home. Authorities are calling this clue an item of interest and have asked the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to look into it.
Trevino could enter a plea in this case later this month. Investigators think he may have left Kira's body within a hundred miles of their home.
A judge refused to lower Trevino's $1 million bail after prosecutors argued that he is a flight risk. They said he called a relative from jail and asked them to bring him a briefcase that had his passport in it.
Last week, evidence revealed the blood splatter found in the Trevino bedroom matched Kira's DNA.
