Iowa Up For Grabs 2 Months Before GOP Caucuses
WILTON, Iowa (AP) -- The Iowa caucuses are up for grabs with just 10 weeks to go until the leadoff contest of the 2012 Republican presidential race.
Iowa voters are hardly surging toward former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who's essentially been running for the White House since losing the caucuses in 2008.
So far, none of his opponents has emerged as the consensus candidate of conservatives, as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee did in winning Iowa four years ago.
Romney sees an opening in Iowa, but Texas Gov. Rick Perry hopes to block it.
But Perry faces challenges on the right from Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.
Businessman Herman Cain is a wild card, with little organization in Iowa and new doubts about his opposition to abortion rights.
