Iowa Father Sentenced To Jail In Go-Cart Crash
RED OAK, Iowa (AP) — A southwest Iowa man accused of being drunk when he crashed a go-cart and injured his 2-year-old son will spend 90 days in jail.
Thirty-five-year-old Shawn Soar, of Red Oak, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County District Court to child endangerment and first-offense operating while intoxicated in the accident that happened last September.
Soar was sentenced on the OWI charge to a year in jail with all but 90 days suspended. He was a granted a deferred judgment on the child endangerment charge and placed on probation.
Authorities say Soar and his son were riding in the go-cart when it hit a parked truck.
