Iowa Bus Rush Is On For GOP's Bachmann
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Republican Michele Bachmann will close out her opening-week presidential campaign swing with a three-day bus tour of Iowa that includes six planned stops.
The Minnesota congresswoman announced the bus tour through her campaign Thursday. It is due to start with a breakfast chat Saturday in Iowa City and end with an appearance in Monday's Independence Day parade in Clear Lake.
Along the way, Bachmann is making appearances in Marshalltown, Des Moines, Carroll and Le Mars.
Bachmann is making a hard play to win the August GOP straw poll in Iowa, which could launch her to favorite status in next year's leadoff caucuses.
Fellow 2012 candidates Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty are all making trips to Iowa over the next week.
