Investigation: No Attendant At Top Of Slide Where Teen Died
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- An investigation at the Grand Rios Waterpark in Brooklyn Park shows there was no attendant on duty at the top of the waterslide where a teen ended up drowning.
Two months ago, 17-year-old Youtee Pour went down the Hurricane waterslide, went underwater and had to be pulled out.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The slide has been closed since November.
Police say no one was working at the top of the slide, which is required. An administrative citation was issued and inspections continued each weekend to verify safety and water quality standards were met.
The owner of the waterpark is appealing the citation.
A date has not been set to re-open the waterslide.
