Illness Cancels Gay Marriage Performance At University Of Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The University of Iowa says a provocative theatrical performance about gay marriage has been canceled because the artist is ill.
UI Theatre said Monday that Holly Hughes' performance scheduled for Saturday likely will be rescheduled for next year.
The performance was to be the culmination of a workshop in which Hughes was to work with students and community members to develop performances around the issue of gay marriage. Hughes also has a solo piece about the issue.
Hughes is a professor at the University of Michigan who specializes in art and experimental theater.
