If Leaders Agree To His Terms, Gov. Dayton Open To Special Session
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton says he's open to calling a special legislative session next month if top lawmakers agree to meet his requirements.
The Legislature failed to pass a package of transportation and public works projects at the end of the session Sunday. Legislative leaders are asking the governor to call lawmakers back to finish their work.
Speaking at Land O' Lakes corporate headquarters Wednesday, Dayton told reporters that he has requirements that must be met if he's to call a special session. Those include funding for a health sciences building at the University of Minnesota.
Dayton says he plans to mull the issue over the weekend and reach out to leaders next week.
He says they would still need to figure out some logistics, including where the House would meet.
