Sheriff: Ice-Out Approaches On Lake Minnetonka
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One of Minnesota's most popular lakes is nearing ice-out.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says the upper portion of Lake Minnetonka is open.
The lower lake, however, still has plenty of ice from Wayzata Bay to Big Island.
The sheriff's office says Excelsior Bay is also still iced over.
An ice boat and an SUV went through the ice on Lake Minnetonka during this rather mild winter.
Ice-out was declared on the lake last year in early April.
