Hurricane Sandy Causing Cancellations At MSP Airport
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- As parts of New York evacuate and others out east prepare for Hurricane Sandy to make landfall, Minnesotans are also feeling some of the impact of Sandy.
Already, a number of flights that were headed east have been canceled at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. As of 4 a.m. Monday about 40 flights had been canceled from here to places like Baltimore, Boston, Hartford, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.
Officials said that number is likely to grow. There will be a ripple effect to other cities. So far worldwide, the airlines have cancelled 7,200 flights from Sunday and Monday.
Travelers at the airport who had flights canceled could be seen sleeping at the airport overnight. The airlines have waived the change fees, which are usually $150. But you can change your flight time only once.
If you cancel your flight, the airline may offer you a voucher. But you can ask for your money back.
