Hours After Snowfall, Target Field Hosting Doubleheader
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It says a lot about the unusual April we're having that the Twins didn't just play baseball once today -- they're playing twice.
And it's shocking considering multiple inches of snow had fallen the night before. Most fans were pleasantly surprised by the field and their seats when they showed up for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
That's because by noon the field was ready.
The official temperature for the first pitch was 36 degrees, but it was at least 10 degrees warmer in the sun.
Robbin Dowdle brought about every warmer imaginable, just in case her mother-in-law Diane needed them. She was at her first game, to cross it off her bucket list.
"I don't care if it would have been sunny or not, I was excited to come," Diane said.
The team's game day meteorologist had two warnings.
"As a matter of fact you can get sunburn today if you're in the sun at Target Field," Twins meteorologist Craig Edwards said. "Later on this evening when sun goes down, and temps get into lower 30s, it's going to feel a little chilly."
