Hopkins Man Arrested, Charged For Illegal Narcotics, Guns
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 27-year-old Hopkins man has been charged with nine felonies after an investigation located illegal narcotics and firearms in his home and vehicle, according to the Southwest Hennepin Drug Task Force.
On Aug. 29, 2012, investigators with the task force executed a search warrant at a residence on the 300 block of 5th Avenue North in Hopkins. There, they arrested Steven Kyle Anderson, who had an outstanding felony warrant.
While searching the home, authorities say they discovered: Heroin, more than 100 pills that are controlled substances, a firearm magazine, a laser sight for a firearm and an assault rifle.
The next day, investigators searched Anderson's vehicle and discovered a handgun and nearly 1,000 pills that are controlled substances, including Oxycodone and Xanax.
Anderson now faces nine felonies, including eight counts of a controlled substance violations and one count of prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
He is currently in custody in the Hennepin County Jail on $50,000 bail.
The Southwest Hennepin Drug Task Force consists of officers and deputies from the following agencies: Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Eden Prairie Police Department, Hopkins Police Department, Edina Police Department, Minnetonka Police Department and the St. Louis Park Police Department.
