Holiday Travel Jam At MSP

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The holiday season is finally here and travelers, despite new airport security measures, are packing the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport this Thursday.
"You have a lot of leisure travelers, and people who don't travel a lot or fly during the holidays," said Paul Hogan, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Airport Commission.
Hogan says some people haven't been through the new security procedures before and that could slow things down a bit.
And what about the Christmas presents you're bringing on the plane to deliver to that special someone?
"You don't want to try and take a wrapped present through the security checkpoint," Hogan said. "The screeners will ask you to unwrap it so they can see what's in it."
Hogan also suggests getting to the airport an hour and a half early for domestic flights and two hours early for international flights.
"The lines are longer today so arrive in plenty of time because there are a lot of people flying out," said Hogan.
