Hiker OK After Spending Night In NE Minn. Woods
ORR, Minn. (AP) -- An overdue hiker is OK after spending the night in the woods of northeastern Minnesota.
The St. Louis County sheriff's office got a call about the hiker around 3:15 a.m. Thursday. The 31-year-old Grand Rapids man had been hiking Wednesday on the Sioux Hustler Trail about 30 miles northeast of Orr and had told his family he would be home later that night.
When the man didn't come home, his family called the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's rescue squad began searching for the man. He emerged from the woods on his own about 8:20 a.m. Thursday and was not hurt.
Because of bad weather, the hiker decided to camp out overnight and hike out in the morning.
