Highway 169 Reopens After Being Closed Due To Flooding
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's not spring yet but some people south of the metro are already dealing with an unwelcome sign of spring: Flooding.
Highway 169 between St. Peter and Mankato is open after flooded roads and mudslides forced Minnesota Department of Transportation crews to shut it down.
The steady rain and melting snow led to about an inch of water on the roads.
"I think what's kind of going on is that we've had this wet, heavy snow and this heavy rain and then pipes are frozen," MnDOT's Tony DeSantiago said on Saturday. "We've tried to get thorugh as many as we can but they just can't take the water, the runoff."
The 10-mile stretch of 169 isn't the only area with flooding.
Highway 66 is closed from Highway 169 in Mankato to County Road 35.
