Highway 12 Closing In Orono For Safety Improvements
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- At midnight Monday, a busy highway stretch in the west Twin Cities metro will be closing.
Construction for safety improvements will close Highway 12 between County Roads 6 and 112, starting at midnight. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be installing a concrete median on the roughly five mile stretch to prevent cross-over crashes.
The work is expected to take about three weeks. Traffic will be detoured onto old Highway 12 through Orono and Long Lake.
Highway 12 in the west Twin Cities metro is one of the deadliest stretches of highway in Minnesota.
