Hennepin Co. To Marry 22 Couples For Free On Valentine's Eve
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Judges in Hennepin County are getting a jump on Valentine's Day love.
A dozen judges from the Fourth Judicial District are scheduled to marry 22 couples at no charge at Hennepin County Government Center on Friday, the day before the holiday.
Judge William Koch says the judges wanted to help celebrate Valentine's Day as well as give the newlyweds a way to easily remember their anniversaries.
Judge Ivy Bernhardson will sing "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?," accompanied by Judge Laurie Miller on piano.
A quartet including Judge Elizabeth Cutter will play throughout the ceremonies. Weddings will occur about every 15 minutes.
The 22 couples to be married already have been selected.
