GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) — Residents of Grand Marais are sweeping up dirt and debris after intense storms dumped more than 3 inches of rain along Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior.
The rain caused street flooding in downtown Grand Marais Thursday, but the water has since receded. Some flooded basements are reported.
General manager Jennifer Stoltz of Cook County Whole Foods Co-op says her parking lot was flooded, but customers were able to wade through the water to her store.
WTIP-FM reports flooding temporarily closed Minnesota Highway 61 west of Grand Marais early Friday.
The National Weather Service reports 3.78 inches of rain fell on the Grand Marais harbor. Other rainfall reports include 3.51 inches east of Sea Gull Lake and 3.36 inches in Lutsen.
