Heatley, Wild Secure 4-3 OT Win Over Blue Jackets
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Dany Heatley scored twice in his Minnesota debut, including the winner in overtime to lead the Wild to a 4-3 preseason victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.
With the Wild on the power play in the extra period, Heatley tipped Mikko Koivu's shot from the right circle past Columbus goalie Allen York.
Josh Harding made 31 saves for the Wild, who also got goals from Devin Setoguchi and Kristopher Foucault.
Fedor Tyutin scored a power-play goal and recorded a pair of assists for Columbus. Derek Mackenzie and Ryan Russell also scored for the Blue Jackets. York made 20 saves.
Minnesota's line of Heatley, Koivu and Setoguchi combined for three goals and nine points against the Blue Jackets.
Setoguchi, acquired in a trade over the summer, tied the game 3-all when he picked up a puck that Heatley knocked loose and beat York 31 seconds into the third period.
Heatley scored at 7:30 of the second period after Koivu found him in front of the net. Neither Heatley nor Setoguchi, who were both acquired from San Jose, played in either of Minnesota's first two preseason games.
Minnesota winger Brad Staubitz was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct after checking Cody Bass from behind at 4:24 of the third period. The Wild killed off Columbus' extended power play. Bass returned to the game later in the period.
Foucault opened the scoring at 5:30 of the first period.
