Health Partners Announces $140 Million Renovation, Expansion At Methodist Hospital
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A $140 million expansion project will involving renovating 135,000 square feet and adding 60,000 square feet to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, officials with Health Partners announced Tuesday.
The project, which is expected to be completed by 2019, will include two new inpatient floors and modernize the hospital's surgery center. There will be two new floors in the east tower with private rooms, and semi-private rooms on three floors will be converted to private rooms.
Officials said when the project is complete, nearly all the rooms at Methodist Hospital will be private. The hospital is expanding its surgery center on the building's west side to improve safety and efficiency in the area. The sterilization and decontamination area will also be relocated and remodeled to improve traffic flow in the area.
Officials said the project will also reduce energy usage at the hospital by about 10 percent.
