Green Mill Closing Uptown Location, Moving Roseville Location
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After 38 years of business, pizzeria Green Mill announced it will be closing the doors on its location in Uptown, Minneapolis.
On Tuesday morning, the CEO of Hightop Hospitality, Paul Dzubnar, announced the restaurant will be closing its location at 2626 Hennepin Avenue.
"We've had a great run of almost 40 years with Green Mill in the Uptown market, but it was just time to move on from that location," Dzubnar said in the press release. "The Minneapolis market is intriguing based upon the strength and vibrancy of Green Mill and our continued growth in delivery and catering."
Dzubnar said the company is currently looking for new locations in Minneapolis, including a possible downtown location.
He also stated his team is working with current Uptown Green Mill employees to help them remain employed with Hightop Hospitality.
The Uptown Green Mill will close on Dec. 31.
Meanwhile, another Green Mill location is in flux. The Roseville Green Mill will be moving locations.
Currently, it is located on the north side of the lower level of Rosedale Mall, near Games N Go. The new location will be near the AMC movie theater.
"We are very excited about making this move," Dzubnar said in the press release. "The Rosedale Mall has been a great spot for Green Mill and this move gives us a greater amount of visibility to our current and future guests."
The move will begin when the current location is vacated on Jan. 6. The new location is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017.
The first Green Mill opened in 1975 on the corner of Grand Avenue and Hamline Avenue in St. Paul. There are 26 other Green Mill locations in the Midwest, 11 of which are located in the Twin Cities area.
