Green Line Service Back Up Following Interruption Near The U
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Metro Transit says service along the light rail Green Line between St. Paul and Minneapolis was disrupted Wednesday morning.
Replacement buses were shuttling LRT riders between the Prospect Park and Downtown East stations in Minneapolis. Metro Transit said buses were also brought in to replace the Metro Green Line trains between Stadium Village and West Bank stations.
Around 11 a.m., full service resumed on the Green Line.
Metro Transit reported that the reason for the service suspension was because of fire activity near the Washington Avenue Bridge. The fire department said the belongings of someone who appeared to be living under the bridge had caught fire.
The fire was extinguished quickly, but some of the wiring underneath the bridge was affected.
Metro Transit's light rail service in the area was shut down for safety reasons.
