Granlund Sculpture Stolen From Minn. Landscape Arboretum
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A statue by world-renowned Minnesota sculptor Paul T. Granlund was stolen last week from the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska.
The 42-inch-high bronze statue "South Wind" was removed from the Nelson Shrub Rose Garden sometime between last Thursday night and Saturday morning, according to arboretum officials.
Special tools were used to separate the sculpture from its marble base.
The statue features the inscription "10." The Carver County Sheriff's office collected DNA samples from the scene and are processing them.
"This was a criminal act and we take it very seriously," arboretum director Ed Schneider said. "With the public's help, we hope to restore this priceless treasure to the arboretum so that Minnesotans young and old can enjoy it once again."
