2 Injured In Grain Elevator Explosion In Tracy
TRACY, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- Two people have been injured in an explosion at the CHS Inc. grain elevator in the southwestern Minnesota community of Tracy.
CHS spokeswoman Lani Jordan says it happened early Monday afternoon in equipment that loads and unloads trucks and rail cars.
Jordan says one employee suffered minor burns, while a non-employee truck driver was also injured. Both were sent to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for evaluation and treatment. She did not have details on the trucker's injuries or condition.
WCCO-TV's John Lauritsen, who is reporting from the scene, said one of the victims was seriously injured.
There was no fire, Jordan said, and all employees are accounted for.
Jordan also says there's no risk to the community, and that CHS is working with local authorities and the state fire marshal's office to determine the cause. The company is still evaluating the extent of the damage.
So far, it appears the mill is still operable but parts of the elevator need to be repaired.
Mayor Tony Peterson said said he knew they were doing some maintenance work on the elevator but doesn't know if that had anything to do with the incident.
