Gov. Walker To Appear At MLK Ceremony
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker plans to participate in the state's official Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday ceremony Monday.
The state's ceremony is planned over the noon hour in the Capitol rotunda. It is one of several ceremonies planned to mark the day across the state.
Walker was starting his day at the annual Milwaukee YMCA Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast.
The Rev. C.T. Vivian is the featured speaker at the official Madison-Dane County event. Vivian was a friend of King's who helped found the Nashville Christian Leadership Conference, which organized the first sit-ins in Nashville in 1960 and the first civil-rights march in 1961.
