Dayton & Lawmakers To Meet To Try To Reach Deal On Special Session
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Months after the end of the 2016 legislative session, top state officials are still talking about tying up loose ends.
Gov. Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Smith plan to meet with House Speaker Kurt Daudt and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk Friday to discuss a possible special session.
They're trying to find common ground on a $1 billion public construction package and a $260 million tax relief bill.
Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk believes a special session won't happen until mid-August because of the upcoming political conventions.
