Gov. Dayton Heading To Mankato For Pheasant Hunting Opener
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's been a tradition for Gov. Mark Dayton to participate in Minnesota's annual opener for the pheasant hunting season.
This weekend, Dayton heads to Mankato as the community will host events Friday and Saturday to highlight hunting in the area. Dayton said he's enjoyed pheasant hunting for 60 years and has been a part of the last five Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener.
Dayton will host a banquet Friday night that's open to the public at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato. A social hour starts at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a program to follow. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 for a couple.
Dayton and his group will be out hunting early Saturday morning, then there is a land dedication planned for 12 p.m. at the O.A. Vee Wildlife Management Area. Dayton has previously been to Montevideo, Marshall, Madelia and Worthington for the Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener.
