Gophers' Walker Named Big Ten Player Of The Week
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For the second straight week, a University of Minnesota men's basketball player received recognition from the Big Ten Conference.
Senior center Mo Walker was named the league's Player of the Week on Monday. It's the first of his career and the second for the Gophers this season. Senior guard Andre Hollins got the honor last week.
Walker had a big week as the Gophers won a pair of games to improve to 8-2 on the season. He averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in wins over North Dakota and Southern University. Walker had 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting and added seven rebounds in just 23 minutes against North Dakota.
Walker added 11 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals in just 16 minutes against Southern. He currently leads Minnesota with 5.3 rebounds per game and 18 blocks on the season. He's third on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game.
Minnesota hosts Seattle University at 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Arena.
