Gophers Flirting With A Special Season
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There are smiles on the faces of Gopher football players – that's what happens when you win.
The U of M is on a three-game Big Ten win streak, something the program hasn't done for years.
You can feel it on the campus more than you can see it -- a little different vibe – and that's all due to winning.
"Our classmates and fans appreciate it, and we appreciate their support," said defensive end Theiren Cockran.
And the reason they are winning may be attitude more than anything else.
"Our coaches are doing a great job with continuing to stay aggressive, and the more aggressive you are, the better the results," quarterback Philip Nelson said.
The Gophers and their 7-2 record host Penn State at 11 a.m. on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium. And the Nittany Lions still live in the shadow of Joe Paterno's scandal. But the team is respectable again.
"We just have to go to work," tight end Maxx Williams said.
